What is good news? A young man proposing to his girlfriend and hearing her say yes is certainly good news. Receiving an unexpected inheritance of 100 million dollars would be good news. Hearing a doctor say you are cancer-free would be great news. But the greatest news of all is knowing that your sins are forgiven and that you can now know God as your Father. Those other blessings are temporary. The good news of the gospel is eternal—FOREVER!
The word “gospel” means good news. It is the good news that humans can be restored to a right relationship with God through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. He paid the penalty we owed. On the third day, He rose from the grave. Death could not hold Him. He now sits at the right hand of His heavenly Father, and because He lives, He offers us eternal forgiveness.
Have you believed this good news? Believe in your heart that Jesus died for our sins and rose again on the third day, and you can be forgiven. Pursue Him. Obey His teachings and you will experience the presence of Jesus in your life today.
