Rev. Chad Whitley
Rev Chad WhitleyChad Whitley has been Minister of Youth at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church since 2004. In February of 2008, his position was expanded to include responsibilities in Congregational Ministry. He lives in Angier, NC with his wife Carol Ann and daughter Autumn Grace Whitley. They also take responsibility for an obese cat named Gideon, who in turn eats them out of house and home.

Chad spent his childhood in the foothills of North Carolina, where he was reared by his loving parents. He became a Christian during a Christian Youth Organization meeting at his high school when he was 16, and felt God’s call into full-time Christian service during his short tenure at Western Carolina University. Shortly thereafter, he attended Mars Hill College where he graduated (summa cum laude) with a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy. Feeling a need for more preparation, Chad traveled to Texas to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he remained for two years; however, both God and his home state were calling, and he left Southwestern and Texas for Campbell University Divinity School and PGBC. Chad graduated (with distinction) from Campbell in May 2008 with a Master of Divinity in Biblical Studies. Some day, he would like to consider doctoral studies, but he lives in mortal fear of the Graduate Record Exam, which is a necessary evil for admission to such programs.

Chad has served churches in both North Carolina and Texas, and is honored to call the Triangle (and PGBC) home. He enjoys reading (especially theology), watching television, spending time with his wife, hanging out with youth, and playing Rock Band (although he admits to having minimal skill in doing so). Ultimately, Chad is honored to serve God at Pleasant Grove, and is excited about what the future holds.

Chad also enjoys referring to himself in the third person. Chad likes that very, very much.
